As editor in chief, he is responsible for the editorial direction, media platforms, and business strategy of MIT Technology Review, including the rapidly expanding U.S. and international websites, the award-winning print magazine, videos, newsletters, business reports, and live events such as EmTech, the company’s annual conference focused on emerging technologies. He also serves as chairman of its international entrepreneurial network, MIT Enterprise Forum. Mr. Pontin joined MIT Technology Review in 2004 as its editor and was named publisher in August 2005. From 1996 to 2002, Mr. Pontin was the editor of Red Herring, a business and technology publication. From 2002 to 2004 he served as editor in chief of the Acumen Journal, which he founded, covering the business, economic, and policy implications of discoveries in biotechnology and the life sciences. He has written for national and international publications, including the New York Times, the Economist, the Financial Times, Wired, and the Believer. He is a frequent guest on television and radio. Mr. Pontin was born in London and raised in Northern California. He was educated in England, at Harrow School and Oxford University.Kathleen KennedyPresident -- Kathleen Kennedy is the President of the MIT Enterprise Forum and the Chief Strategy Officer at MIT Technology Review. In her 14 years at MIT, Kathleen has helped MIT Technology Review to redefine the magazine brand and to achieve success in a rapidly changing market. She has established several new lines of business in the United States as well as in Asia, Europe and Latin America. She leads events, marketing, sales and international licensing for MIT’s media company as well as the global team of the entrepreneurial support organization, the MIT Enterprise Forum. Kathleen started her career in accounting at Deloitte and Touche, but she quickly found her true calling -- media. She left the financial world to join a startup that specialized in media research for the film industry. Kathleen worked on a wide range of movies for major studios, including Warner Bros., Paramount, and 20th Century Fox. She has received a number of industry awards, including the 2009 Folio: 40 which recognized the most innovative and influential people in magazines. She was a member of the Rising Scholar program at the University of Virginia and she studied accounting at James Madison University.James CoyleTreasurer -- James Coyle is treasurer of the MIT Enterprise Forum and the chief operating officer at MIT Technology Review. Before joining MIT Technology Review, he was the senior financial manager and controller for RetroFit Technologies in Milford, MA, a computer services company with a client base made up of Massachusetts and Connecticut government agencies as well as commercial customers. Jim has also worked for other high-tech companies, including SeaChange International, a software and hardware developer selling into cable companies for video-on-demand products, and Praxis International, a software developer for larger systems. He has a bachelor of science degree in economics and finance from Southern New Hampshire University and an MBA with a concentration in accounting from Bentley College.Antoinette MatthewsExecutive Director -- Antoinette Matthews is the Executive Director of the MIT Enterprise Forum. Under her leadership, the MIT Enterprise Forum has grown into a global organization with 27 chapters worldwide, which organization hundred of workshops, activities, and events every year to enable technology entrepreneurs to bring their world-changing ideas to bear. Antoinette has worked with the MIT Enterprise Forum advisory board and MIT Technology Review leadership to strengthen the organization, functioning as the ambassador, content and product development, business development and strategic-thought leadership for the organization. In 2011, she was instrumental in the transfer of the MIT Enterprise Forum from the MIT Alumni Association to the MIT Technology Review. As Executive Director, Antoinette is tasked with not only aligning MITEF more closely with the MIT Technology Review, but to also determine a new path forward for the organization, developing a sustainable business model and further expanding the global reach and impact of the MIT Enterprise Forum. Some of Antoinette's professional activities involve supporting multiple MIT student-driven workshops and initiatives such as the student-led MIT Global Startup Workshop, where she is a regular speaker, and advisory board member from 2007-2009. In 2009, the MIT Entrepreneurship Center awarded her with the Adolf F. Monosson Prize for Entrepreneurship Mentoring, in recognition of those who counsel and guide business pioneers who blaze new pathways in entrepreneurship. She is currently serving as a mentor for the MIT $100K Business Plan Competition. Antoinette received her degree in Marketing and Financial Management from the University of Pretoria. Prior to coming to the U.S.A. in 2001, Antoinette was the Relationship Marketing Manager for JD Group Pty Ltd in South Africa, at that time the largest group of national retail chains in the Southern hemisphere, and the Marketing Manager for the first IT chain South Africa.Gaylee DuncanDirector of Chapter Leadership and Process -- Gaylee Duncan is Director of Chapter Leadership and Process for the MIT Enterprise Forum. She has served on the Global Advisory Board of Directors and chaired the Leadership, Process and Development Working Group. She is a former chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum Northwest chapter and has been engaged with the organization for more than 15 years. Her areas of expertise include leadership development, strategic market planning, communications and public affairs in the high tech, consumer and entrepreneurial/start-up sectors. Gaylee’s focus with MIT Enterprise Forum is to develop training curricula and best practices to help recruit and nurture chapter leaders. Joyce ChenDirector of Communications -- Joyce Chen recently joined the MIT Enterprise Forum Global team as the Director of Communications, where she will be working on executing and communicating MITEF's new vision and mission, and developing content recipes for chapters to easily use and adopt for their local events. She is responsible for all aspects of MITEF's digital media presence and brand identity, and manages MITEF Global's social media, video portal, and website. Joyce comes to MITEF with extensive experience working with globally-focused organizations, including Sister Cities International, Wokai -- a microfinance organization based in China, and the U.S. government. She has worked in event planning and management, and has helped plan the transportation logistics for U.S. President Obama's Inauguration in 2009. Before joining the MIT Enterprise Forum, Joyce was at the Volpe Center, a systems research center within the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she helped build their communications function from the ground-up, launching a revamp of their intranet and external websites, as well as leading their rebranding efforts. She speaks fluent Cantonese Chinese and is working on improving her Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
