Therefore, after much careful thought, and encouragement from many of you, I’ve decided to seek re-election for Town Council for three key reasons:
First, I cherish our hometown as much today as when I arrived here 47 years ago, and I believe Town Council is the right place for me best to serve the “One Island, One Community” I love.
Second, Hilton Head Island is at a pivotal point where citizens deserve solutions that are creative, practical, and also true to our long-standing Island values. I believe my experience and skills can best contribute to those solutions.
Third, I want to continue to be a champion for our community’s vibrant future. I’m very optimistic about that future, but defining it needs a lot of attention right now – we need to:
* Preserve and safeguard our critical environment – always
* Plan, refresh, redevelop areas in decline
* Protect taxpayers’ dollars, businesses, workforce, and home values
* Be resilient and positive during this disruptive pandemic and unsettling time
* Effectively facilitate and support the new town manager’s transition with Council, residents and businesses</Description><OtherInformation>Working together these goals can become reality. I’m confident my experience and my perspective will continue to be valuable on Town Council, and so, respectfully ask for your support and vote...
As your Ward 3 Representative on Town Council I will work achieve the following 5 Objectives:</OtherInformation><StrategicPlanCore><Organization><Name>David Ames</Name><Acronym>DA</Acronym><Identifier>_aaec5654-fa2c-11ea-a685-b7821d83ea00</Identifier><Description>Distinguished public servant -- David Ames has a distinguished record of almost 50 years of service to Hilton Head Island.
