Professional futurists, future-oriented think tanks, universities and institutions from the Philippines, Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Iran, China, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, etc. have presented papers, shared case studies and pioneered participatory futures tools and methods to deconstruct, anticipate, and re-imagine the communities of futures thinking practices, education, leadership, the fourth industrial revolution, digital economy, decolonization, power and security systems in Asia. She headed the DAP-GSPDM Academic Team during the first Senate Hearing on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking, in which she presented the Strategic Foresight Framework for the Philippines anchored on the SDGs. Through her leadership, series of invitations from the Senate Committee followed thereafter giving GSPDM the leverage to participate. She has facilitated futures workshops for UNICEF Philippines, UN Cambodia, and the East-West Center Hawaii. She worked as Technical Advisor of Let Us Create Futures, a child focused non-profit in Cambodia. She also worked as an Organizational Development Specialist for VSO Cambodia, where she advised two provincial NGO networks for the provinces of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri. Before working in Cambodia, Shiela worked as a social development professional in the Philippines for more than 15 years. As an independent consultant, she did projects for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), German Aid (GIZ) and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), among others. She also worked at the Philippine Red Cross, Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Sagip Pasig Movement (SPM), LifeBank Foundation (LBF) and other development organizations. She has published her work in magazines and anthologies.Shiela trained as a Climate Presenter for Nobel Prize Laureate Al Gore’s The Climate Reality Project (TCRP) in Jakarta in January 2011. Abella is the Learning Manager of the Sustainable Development Goals and Regional and Local Governance Cluster (SDRLGC) of the Development Academy of the Philippines-Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM). She was part of the DAP-GSPDM technical team that served during the first Senate Hearing on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking, when the Academic Team headed by Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina presented the Strategic Foresight Framework. He is also a senior researcher in the Research Center for Public Human Resource Development, Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Korea. He earned his masteral and doctorate degree in public administration in the Graduate School of Governance (GSG) at Sungkyunkwan University.He worked as a program manager for the Global Master of Public Administration (e-Government and e-Policy) and Master in Public Management for the Latin and Caribbean civil servants. His insight in the SUC Boards gave rise to reforms in governance in Higher Education.During the same period, Emmanuel was the Committee’s representative to the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts Board of Commissioners and in the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the Philippines. At the cultural front, he was instrumental in the Senate Investigations of Heritage issues, one of which was the case of the “Pambansang Photobomber” that ruined the vista of the Jose P. Rizal National Monument.
