On the broadest issues, InterAction has helped to create several partners to focus on these issues.The Alliance for International Youth Development (AIYD) is a new community of practice and an advocacy coalition comprised of leading U.S.-based youth and community development organizations. The Alliance provides an opportunity for engaged organizations and individuals to share and discuss effective practices, and to advocate for and inform policies that support and impact youth. The 1,000 Days partnership promotes targeted action and investment to improve nutrition for mothers and children in the 1,000 days between a woman's pregnancy and her child's second birthday when better nutrition can have a life-changing impact on a child's future and help break the cycle of poverty.In addition to these far-reaching partnerships, InterAction has also reached out to partner with a wide range of other organizations, building on our history of increased effectiveness through collective effort. Alliances range from informal to more formally defined relationships around areas of mutual interest. Activities include information sharing, coordination of activities, advancement of mutual learning and collective advocacy.InterAction actively seeks out individual NGOs, platforms and networks involved in the issues we address. Partnerships can involve both InterAction member and nonmember organizations with an interest in the issue, alliances with relevant international networks and bilateral work when appropriate. Some of these partnerships are temporary, but several are long-term and ongoing.InterAction is committed to being the voice and prime representative of U.S. international NGOs in building alliances and common agendas with NGO networks and other strategic partners around the world.Better AidThe Better Aid process seeks to improve the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral aid in the context of the 2005 Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and its next iteration in 2011.Coordination SUDCoordination SUD is the coordinating platform of French NGOs working internationally in development and humanitarian relief. InterAction and Coordination SUD have agreed to work together to increase information exchange and engagement on issues of mutual interest. G8 NGO Platform NetworkThe G8 NGO Platform Network seeks to enhance collaboration among NGO platforms in the G8 countries in order to effectively impact the attention given to and the ways in which development and humanitarian issues are addressed in G8 Summits. Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)The IASC is the primary mechanism for interagency coordination of humanitarian assistance and is a unique forum involving the key UN and non-UN humanitarian partners. InterAction is a principal member of the IASC.International Forum of National NGO Platforms (IFP)The IFP brings together over 80 national and regional NGO platforms for the purpose of facilitating cooperation at the regional, interregional and international levels on common advocacy and capacity building actions.
