The Committee was established for two purposes: (1) to improve collaborative relationships among the people who use and care for the National Forests and the Forest Service, which manages the lands; and(2) to provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service in identifying and implementing broadly supported land management projects that maintain existing infrastructure, enhance forest ecosystems, and improve land health and water quality. The RAC directly supports the agency's mission goal for ecosystem health: to "Promote ecosystem health and conservation using a collaborative apporach to sustain the Nations's forests, grasslands, and watersheds."By recommending projects that maintain and improve the health of national forest ecosystems and improve cooperative relationships among the people who use and care for the national forests, the Secure Rural Schools resource advisory committees support the Forest Service mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations. The committees specifically support Forest Service strategic goals to 1. Restore, sustain, and enhance the national forests; and 2.
