StratML: Maturing Social
Networking Services for
Machine-Readable Government and the Strategic Semantic Business
Web
Abstract for Owen Ambur's Presentation at the Strategic Planning
Innovation Summit
December 2011
StratML is an XML-based vocabulary and schema
for the
elements commonly contained in strategic and performance
plans. It is an
American national standard and may soon become an international
standard.
It is also being extended to meet additional data requirements
specified for
U.S. federal agencies by recent legislation modernizing the
Government
Performance and Results Act, which directs agencies to publish
their plans and
reports in machine-readable format. The speaker will explain
why existing
social networking services are immature for business-quality usage
and
highlight the potential power of the those services when combined
with an open
data standard like StratML to create the Strategic Semantic
Business Web.
